Steamed Cod and Roasted Veggies Bento

I'm really digging this LunchBots Quad bento box for my preschooler now. Her overall appetite is less these days, so this way I can offer a variety of foodstuffs in smaller quantities while keeping them all separate. Strangely enough, it's the strawberries and carrots that have been coming home lately. Does she not like strawberries?? I can't fathom that. Everyone loves strawberries, don't they? Anyway, in this bento I've arranged: steamed cod with shoyu, ginger and green onion, roasted shredded Brussels sprouts dusted with parmesan, tiny roasted taters, a star-cut radish, carrots, grapes, strawberries and blackberries. Did I mention how much I superlove this box? Really awesome! Going to be using it a lot this coming school year. ^_^

  1. I love my Quad LunchBots too! I love packing a variety of foods to snack on without them co-mingling.

  2. Maybe she doesn't like the strawberries when they're whole or have a stem? Try cutting it up for her and see?

    1. Yes, you're right. She does eat them avidly when I cut them up and put them in yogurt.

  4. It's a great looking bento. Your radish is so pretty! I love the utensils with the tiny cut out hearts, too :)

  5. Hmmm... I think she is going through a "no-no" strawberry phase ?!? Oldest daughter adores it but lil one never was a big fan. She even refuses cakes that has strawberry filling...
So neat your kids eat such a variety of fishes! My girls are a bit picky... salmon is the top favorite and then some pikes would do...
    Pretty bento, always so cheerful!

    1. Wow! I have never seen my kids refuse cake of any kind. Big girl must be happy to take her sister's share...
My kids like salmon best too. This fish is pretty mild-tasting, so they don't mind cod either. It's also good in fish tacos, with avocado and salsa. Thanks L!

  6. The carrots might be coming back because they take a long time to chew. My son doesn't want raw carrots in his lunch for this reason (though he very much likes them otherwise).

    1. So true -- I bet she is too busy chatting to be bothered to chew carrots at school! She likes them fine at home.

  7. Sheri, could you show us sometime how you cut radishes like that? I thought it must be simple enough so I tried it, but mine don't look like yours do! I'd love it if you posted some pics of how you go about it.
    thanks!

    1. Kristie,
I'll definitely try to take some process pics of the radish cutting. It's easier than you might think (which is why I do it so often). The carrots too! Always the same kind of cuts, because I'm familiar with it and it saves time. Thanks for asking me. I'll get one of the littles to click the camera, heh.
