Slow Monday means another quick and easy bento. Spinach chow mein noodles get stirfried with a variety of whatever vegetables are on hand; in this case: bean sprouts, shiitake, garlic, carrots, and baby spinach. I added oyster sauce and shoyu for taste, and a little sesame oil. I also added sliced Chinese sausage as well.
We are getting so low on fruits these days -- he gets grapes, blood oranges and kiwi flowers. 2 grape tomatoes. Several maroon carrot tiny flowers scattered around to suggest spring. Is it working? It was such a dreary day too... so I couldn't get much light in the photo.
Happy March!

Hi Sheri! Monday always the hardest day to start bento because too much fun on the weekend hehehe ... Spinach chow mein looks yummy! With limited stock of the fruits, you still come up with the great colorful bento :)

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Susan! Good thing I had the blood oranges, since everything else in the fruit bin is orange!
Mondays are my tough day too. I have to hand it to you with the amount of detail you put into these! And here I thought I was doing well with just hummus and a variety of veggies! As I was making it up this morning for my daughter I thought of your blog and tried to make the veggie arrangement a little extra special.
ReplyDeleteHappy March, sherimiya--progress towards spring continues! Baby carrot accents are so sweet here, and you've perked up a cloudy day with that beautiful bright red apple background...love the stir fry apprach to making the most of random veggies--and with shoyu and Chinese sausage, how yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Dawn, that's great! I get lots of inspiration from others' blogs too :)
