Almos...I very rarely cook especially for the bento. Almost all of my bento are derived from dinner leftovers the previous night. That's why I don't count the cooking time. If you set aside a bit from the meal, all you have to do is arrange it in the box. Same with the salad, cutting the carrots and fruit, etc. <br />Cooking just for the bento is totally unnecessary. Some people even use precooked stocks frozen in bento-sizes. Very convenient. There is some effort involved, but it should not take an hour.
