Caterpillar Meatball Lunchbots Bento

Mini burgers! Or meatballs. Whichever. TinySprite asked for this shape specifically, for the second bento in a row, so I obliged. I used the dot picks for antenna, and cut a tulip shape from cucumber for the face, and decorated with nori. The bug lies on a bed of lettuce in this Lunchbot Trio. Her veggie sides: corn off the cob, carrots and Okinawan sweet potato. Fruit sides: grapes, strawberries and blueberries. All done!

  1. You have inspired me to try new things with my very picky eater son. Its been a slow go so far but I am keeping at in hopes he will eventually start to eat. Sent him off today with his first Bento box and he lost the elastic holder *grrrr* but came back with the lunch mostly intact (he had the fruits) small miracles.

your blog and beautiful lunches has given me hope, so I am going to keep on trying and have him help me prepare his lunch *finfers crossed*

    2. Oh good luck! Keep the faith. If he sees at least one of his favorite foods in his box every day, I'm sure he will come around soon. And don't neglect the effect of the admiring classmates; kids love to look at each others' lunches -- maybe he'll want to "show off" his special bento one of these days, and then he'll realize how cool they really are. I'm glad you find inspiration here; I did the same thing when I first started too. We all started somewhere.
      Have fun!
